An "intro takeover" ad is a presentation technique used to highlight several key messages to visitors as soon as they arrive on a website. Unlike a simple ad, an intro takeover typically consists of a series of visual ads, each with distinct calls to action, promoting different aspects or offers.
Enabling the Intro Takeover Display
To ensure it's visible on your site, you need to activate its publication. To do this, simply click on the button located on the right side of the screen from the general ad page:
Create an Intro Takeover
- Go to the "Announcement" section in the site editor on CentralApp.
- Click on the "Add a message" button in the panel on the right side of the page.

Intro Takeover Settings
Publication Date
Set a start date for the appearance of your intro takeover.
You can also specify an end date (optional) if you want the intro takeover to be displayed temporarily (e.g., promoting a seasonal menu). It will automatically disappear at midnight, the day after the chosen end date.
👋 If no end date is set, the intro takeover will remain visible indefinitely on your site.
Determine the Message
Add a title and subtitle (if needed) to provide more information and context. It is recommended to include a clear and concise title to grab visitors' attention, followed by a subtitle that can offer further details or explain the main message.
👋 Multilingual site? Make sure to translate your message into the different languages activated on your site so that all your visitors can understand the content of the intro takeover.
Add a Call to Action
To activate calls to action, simply toggle the button on the right. This action also applies to the backgrounds:
1. Promote a Business Goal
If you want to encourage your visitors to take a specific action on your site, this intro takeover allows you to display a message with a button. This button will redirect visitors to the corresponding page on your site.
Here are the possible business goals: table reservations, room booking/private hire, room booking, contact forms, recruitment, order taking, appointment scheduling, franchise promotion, event promotion, menu presentation, etc.
👋 The list of objectives varies depending on the features activated in CentralApp. It is possible that you may not have access to all the options listed above.
2. Custom Action
If you want to redirect your customers to a specific link (external form) or another website, the intro takeover with a custom action is perfect. You can include a link and text that will act as a clickable button, hiding the full URL.
Add a Background
You can choose to add a color, image, or video to the intro takeover you're creating.
1. Add an Image
By selecting an image, you can choose one to display as the background for your ad. You can upload one of your own photos or select a royalty-free image.
2. Add a Video
If you choose a video, you'll need to provide the embed link of a video hosted on a popular streaming platform (YouTube is the recommended option).
👋 Make sure you have the necessary rights to use the video on your website.
3. Add a Color
The intro takeover's color is linked to the highlight color defined in your site's branding settings. If you're not satisfied with this color, you can choose a custom color.
Is it possible to add multiple intro takeovers to your site?
Yes, it is possible. They will not all display at the same time, as there is a rotation system.
You can also schedule multiple intro takeovers in advance by setting a start and end date for each intro takeover.
