Unpublish or Delete: What's the Difference?

Before taking action, it's important to understand the distinction between these two actions:

  • Unpublish a post: the post is no longer visible to visitors, but it remains saved in your interface. You can modify and republish it at any time.

  • Delete a post: the post is permanently erased. It disappears from your interface and cannot be recovered.

In summary: unpublish = reversible, delete = irreversible.

Why Unpublish or Delete a Post?

These actions are particularly useful for:

  • removing content that has become temporarily unnecessary,

  • cleaning up obsolete or irrelevant posts,

  • maintaining a structured, readable, and up-to-date site.

How to Unpublish a Post

Unpublishing is ideal if you want to keep a post for future use.

  1. Access your CentralApp site editor, then open the Blog & News section.

  2. Select the relevant post from the list of posts.

  3. Click on the edit icon (pencil).

  4. At the top right, disable the publication option.

The post is then no longer visible on your site but remains available in your interface.

How to Delete a Post

Deletion should only be considered if the post is no longer useful.

  1. Start by unpublishing the post by following the steps above.

  2. Then go to the Unpublished Posts section.

  3. Find the post you wish to delete.

  4. Click on the trash icon to delete it permanently.

Once deleted, the post is erased irreversibly.

Best Practices for Managing Your Posts

For effective blog management:

  • favor unpublishing if there's any doubt,

  • delete only posts that are permanently unnecessary,

  • ensure a post is not linked to other pages before deleting it,

  • maintain a clear list of posts to facilitate long-term management.
